Moved
In case you're wondering why the silence here (which is not unusual for me, heh), well, I'm busy *cough* with my new blog. I'm not quite ready yet, and looks like it's gonna take me more than a couple of days to get ready. So, to keep you from holding your breath too long - which by the way is no good for your health :) - here goes the new blog. This will officially be the last entry in Blogger, so do post any comments you have in my new space. And, thanks for visiting!

Phew!
I can't describe how relieve I'm feeling now. Jolyne manage to get in to the school of our choice without the need to ballot. This whole primary one registration process is so darn stressful. Thank goodness, we don't have to go through this again for Jayden.

Phew!

Bangkok Trip
The Bangkok trip was simply great! It was basically a eat-shop-sleep trip, with no sightseeing except for a boat ride mainly for the two girls. My, what a shopping paradise Bangkok is! Clothes, shoes, lingerie, bags, all at a fraction of the price in Singapore! I especially liked their local children brands as, not only they were cheap, they were beautifully designed too! I went with two half empty luggage and came back with 3 fully stuffed ones. Luckily I didn't change a lot of money, else I would have spent even more! My sister and brother-in-law were very familiar with Bangkok, and we had a driver with us, so it made getting around relatively easy. Nevertheless, I thought the many shopping trips - MBK centre, Pratunam market, Central Chidlom, Seacon Square, Suan Lum night market - would tire Jolyne out, but surprisingly, she enjoyed herself choosing her own clothes and souvenirs. I felt a little guilty for not bringing Jolyne to Dream World and the floating market, this being her first trip to Bangkok, but she didn't seem to mind. In fact, she and Valentia enjoyed each other's company very much and were well-behaved most of the time.

The food there was cheap too, especially seafood. Like a true-blue Singaporean, We stuffed ourselves with sharkfin soup, birdnest, scallops, fish maws at a Chinese restaurant on the first day, and it was just S$150 for the 5 of us ! Such a meal in Singapore would easily cost us double of that. To give you another idea how cheap the food was, a plate of spaghetti at a restaurant in a shopping mall was just S$2.50! Simply unbelivable. Of course, there are more expensive food catered for the upper-class Thais and rich tourists in places like the Oriental Hotel (a buffet dinner would cost about S$60 per pax).

The hotel was a good choice too. It was centrally located at Pathumwan but nicely tucked away in a quiet lane away from the hustle and bustle city centre. The two little girls enjoyed waddling in the pool while we ladies relaxed ourselves at a two-hour Thai message session. Totally rejuvenating.

All in all, it was indeed a very very enjoyable trip. Ahhh, I want to go again!

Short One
My pap smear test came out normal. Whew, what a relief!

In four hours time, I'll be heading towards Bangkok for a short trip, together with my sister's family and Jolyne. Jayden is staying at home with Daddy. The poor little boy is having Conjunctivitis and his eyes are tearing buckets. Somehow, viruses liked him too much to leave him alone. It started with runny nose two weeks ago, then fever on this Monday that lasted three days, and now this. Needless to say, his weight is going southwards. You bet I'll be buying lots of things for him to compensate for not being at home for the next four days.

Be back soon! Don't miss me!

Sad
I just learned during a dinner on Friday that my friend P's elder son was diagnosed with ADHD and her younger son, autism. I was shocked beyond words and didn't know what to say to console her. She had been staying at home to look after her younger son for about a year. I know it's really hard on her - the system in Singapore almost does not, if any at all, cater for special-need children and the medical personnels' and educators' attitude towards these children aren't exactly friendly nor compassionate. Hearing what she had gone through, it made me wonder whether I would do the same if I were her, but I think I would simply break down. I have to say that P is really one tough cookie. I sincerely hope that her application to migrate to Australia, which is a friendlier place for special-need children, will go through successfully.

During the dinner, another friend in the group told me that our friend M, who passed away in the SilkAir crash six year ago, was in the news. Apparently, her family won the lawsuit in US and was awarded a huge of money. I do not know if the news would create an impression that the families were after the money, but what I do know was that there finally was an explanation to the crash and more importantly, justice was done. Just can't help feeling sad to see her picture again.

So Far So Good
The gynecological check-up went on well. Dr. H did not detect any fibroid or cyst in my womb, which she said could be a likely cause for my prolonged menses. The lining was thick though, but no cause for alarm, said she, it would be resolved by having a baby. Er, no thanks. No abnormality in my breast, either. Dr. H prescribed some hormone pills to regulate my period. As for the pap smear test, I still need to wait a week for the result. Hopefully, all is well.

Went on for a dental appointment in the afternoon. Again, I've been delaying it for a year. The dentist Dr. R commented that I had been grinding my teeth in my sleep. This was news to me. Interesting. Again, my teeth is in general good condition, except that he advised my to extract out my two wisdom teeth.

Two check-ups in a row! I've never felt so healthy in my entire life.
